Marin Clean Energy Community Choice Energy

Marin Clean Energy (MCE) is California’s first Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program providing fossil-free electricity service to residents and businesses in Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, and Solano Counties.

Like other CCAs, MCE sources and purchases your power. They negotiate to secure the lowest rates from clean, fossil-free electricity sources. This electricity is put onto the grid along with sources from other energy suppliers. From the grid, it is delivered to residents by the power lines and poles owned by PG&E. Program History

At their June 6, 2017 meeting, the Danville Town Council approved the second reading of an ordinance allowing for the Town to join with MCE Clean Energy. Since April 1, 2018, all residential and commercial customers have been automatically enrolled in MCE.

How Do I Start?

If a resident moves to or opens a new PG&E account in Danville, the electricity generation service will automatically come from MCE unless the resident chooses PG&E’s generation service by opting out of MCE. As an MCE customer, residents will continue to get gas service, electricity delivery, billing, and power line maintenance from PG&E.
